Thursday and Friday

Hola!!!
Well, I am starting to get into a routine here...since I last wrote I have had two full days to experience Granada. And I love it!! The city is incredible!! Once you get downtown it is the traditional Eouropean feel. Lots of big buildings with balconies and statues everywhere with fountains. At night it is my favorite, everything is all lit up with lights. It is so amazing!!! I'm hoping to have some time soon so I can put up pictures of our walks the past few nights. :)

Yesterday we had class again and one of our assignments during our break was to go out and find a cafe and order coffee and ask about the different kinds of coffee. So, I found my favorite coffee drink already...its like a latte only stronger and smaller :) haha it's so good! Then we went back to class. Last night a group of eight of us went for a long walk around downtown and went out for dinner. It was so much fun to explore the city and hang out :) Oh and we had ice cream that was amazing!!! haha I loved it!

Today we did the same thing. But at 7 we went for a walk with our orientation group around the older Moorish part of the city. We saw lots of Moorish restaurants that served tea, I'm really excited to try one of them out :) It was really fun to see a different part of the city. If has a very different feel to it. There are lots of signs in Arabic and we even got to go inside a Mosque. The guy that took us through I think was trying more to convert us rather than just inform us about the building haha He talked for ever and told us so much information about Muslims and thier origens. :) But it was still interesting and very very beautiful. After that we went our for dinner. I had "paella" which is a really common Spanish dish. It has tons of different seafood in it served over rice. It had mussels, squid, shrimp, something that looked and tasted like chicken, vegtables, all served over rice with a thick sauce and it was served in the frying pan. It was soo good!!! The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the whole shrimp...served with head, antennas, and all!! haha But I could handle it it just kind of creeped me out. They say that the Spanish often eat thier seafood with all the bones and such so they know that its fresh. Makes sense but I still think I prefer my fish without the heads...kind of creepy to have eyes stare at you and then rip off its head :) haha but thats just me....

Anyways, we (my roommate Addie and I) came back early tonight because we have to leave really early in the morning for an out trip we are going on with the program. We are going to the coast called Cabo de Gato and we are going on a 10 mile hike. We will be walking by/through lots of beaches so we are going swimming too! At the end of the hike we are having pizza at a restaurant that is really good they say. So, everyone is really excited!! I can't wait. It will be my first time swimming in the Mediterranean Sea :)

Well, I hope all is well in the states!!
Mucho amor!
Erika
